Christmas Assembly
From the Elementary School Principal

A great example of collaboration, student leadership, dedication and entertainment
Before the school broke for the winter holiday the IGBIS community were treated to a delightful 鈥榃inter holiday celebration鈥.
The whole event was organised by our Elementary and Secondary House Captains, ably guided by our house leaders Ms. Nicola, Ms. Chan and Mr. Rohit.
There was an abundance of acts that volunteered, and this provided the variety the event needed, from musical pieces, individual performances, dancing, and music battles between G4 classes involving parents and the staff band to comedy by our G3 IEAP students and a book shared by our G1鈥檚 鈥楧on鈥檛 Let The Pigeon Drive the Sleigh鈥.
The event started with our MCs for the day Rudy Rednose (John) and Pepper Mint (Rhys) introducing each performance, however to throw a spanner in the works our Elves (the Elementary House Captains) facilitated a randomness to the performances by having members of the audience choose what was to be performed. Our orchestra was the first to be challenged as they flicked through their music desperately waiting to find out what they would play. Initially, they thought it would be 鈥楽ilent Night鈥 only to shuffle their music once more as they were to play 鈥楯ingle Bell Rock鈥. They certainly had the theatre rocking.
This was followed by individual performances from Chihiro and Sophia singing 鈥楳emories鈥 by Maroon 5 and Constance playing 鈥楥ounting Stars鈥 on the violin.
A comedic interlude was next up with the G3 IEAP students sharing some of their Christmas jokes, which some students were bursting with laughter at. The G5 IEAP students played 鈥楽ee You Again鈥, by Wiz Khalifa on the keyboards and percussion instruments.
A softer element was then introduced with Xin Ying from G11 playing Winter Wind Etude by Chopin on the piano and Ryan singing 鈥楲ast Christmas鈥 by Wham.
The G1 students reenacted the story 鈥楧on鈥檛 Let the Pigeon Drive the Sleigh鈥 before the G11 students brought the house down with their very serious 鈥榖allet鈥 performance by the Sugar Plum Fairies! The grace, the dedication and the aesthetic performance were one to behold- well at least the start of the performance was!
To round off a thoroughly enjoyable performance was the G4 classes with parents and the teacher's band battling for bragging rights in their song battle, although the actual winner was hard to define it was certainly entertaining.
These kinds of events can only be made possible by the collaboration and dedication of our community, those who facilitated the performances, those who performed and also those who led the event. For so many elements of our community to come together shows the unity that we have within our school and we should be proud of who we are as a community.
Secondary School Production - Emotional Baggage
After the overwhelming success of School of Rock by Andrew Lloyd Webber, our creative team decided to take a bold and innovative approach for this year鈥檚 show with their latest theatrical production, Emotional Baggage, by Lindsay Price. What could be more different than a completely wordless, experimental play?
To bring this vision to life, we gathered a talented ensemble of performers, composers, and visual artists, including our dedicated high school students and the incredible Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Design teachers. Together, they worked tirelessly after school, exploring and developing the story and its themes through movement, masks, puppets, and a completely original soundscape.
The response to Emotional Baggage is a testament to the dedication, enthusiasm, and collaborative spirit of all involved. This production highlights the remarkable creativity of our students and the power of teamwork in the arts.
We are incredibly proud of what our students have accomplished and grateful to all the faculty members who supported them throughout this journey. Thank you to you, our parents, for your continued support of our arts programmes!

Dragons's Den Business Proposal Competition
On December 7th, six Grade 11 students from IGBIS participated in the inaugural session of the Dragon鈥檚 Den Business competition, joining peers from six other schools in an exciting and challenging event. Tasked with finding innovative solutions to a real-world business problem faced by the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), students will present their ideas in a final session on February 7th.
The central question they addressed was: 鈥淗ow can KLCC Convention Centre increase revenue from its restaurants and operations?鈥 Students were expected to apply established business strategies and craft a thoughtful, well-considered approach to tackle this issue.
During the first session, students engaged in primary research, took notes, and received valuable insights and data provided by Mr. John Burke, General Manager of KLCC. In an informal session, Mr. Burke met with the participants, encouraging them to ask questions and brainstorm ideas. Over the next two months, students will refine strategies, combining business theories and tools with research on KLCC to develop practical strategies. The final presentations will be evaluated by a panel of experts from the KLCC management team, who are keen to see the creative solutions offered by these young minds. This competition provides students with an invaluable opportunity to step into the role of business analysts and consultants, tackling genuine business challenges while honing their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Students have expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for this real-world learning experience, finding it a meaningful way to connect classroom lessons to practical applications. We wish them all the best in their preparations and look forward to their innovative presentations!

A Special Delivery to the ZOMI Education Center
On Saturday, December 7th, 12 students and 3 teachers got to play the magical role of 鈥楽anta鈥 and distribute presents to the kids at the Zomi Education Center. Once arriving at ZEC, the items were transported up three flights of stairs (by hand)! IGBIS students then got to spend some time with the ZOMI kids before delivering every present individually. Needless to say, the kids were excited to receive the presents provided by our IGBIS community!聽
The IGBIS students were responsible for the delivery of 75 Christmas presents for students from the Zomi Educational Center. These presents were the result of our generous and caring IGBIS community.聽
Once the task was completed, the crew even sang a Christmas song to their 鈥榓udience鈥.
In addition to the presents, around MYR 2000 and what seemed like a ton of necessities such as rice, diapers, and cleaning agents were donated to the centre. What a rewarding opportunity for our students to meet and spend time with these kids from ZOMI. The people from ZOMI (kids and parents) were very appreciative of our efforts!
A huge thanks to Raj and the bus service for providing the transportation and drivers at no cost. Additional thanks to Maria and Craig M for joining the trip to ZEC, and all the teachers who stepped up at the last minute to wrap (and fill) a couple of extra boxes for the kids.聽

Grade 2 Field Trip聽
As part of the How We Organize Ourselves UOI unit, Grade 2 has been exploring how math is applied in everyday life, with a focus on concepts like measurement and money. To apply these skills in a real-life context, Grade 2 students visited Jaya Grocer on 12 December 2024.聽
At Jaya, students worked in groups to complete a task that required them to purchase specific fruits or vegetables based on measurements of length, weight, or a given budget. For example, one group's task was to buy two cucumbers between 25-30 cm in length. To achieve this, they used a measuring tool to ensure the cucumbers met the task's criteria.
After returning to school, the Grade 2 students reflected on their findings and celebrated by enjoying the fruits they had purchased. It鈥檚 always exciting to see their learning applied in real-life situations.

MYP Personal Project Exhibition
Celebrating the IB Personal Project Journey
The IB Personal Project is a milestone of the MYP program, allowing Grade 10 students to dive deep into areas they are passionate about. On December 10, the Personal Project Exhibition showcased incredible projects revealing their diverse interests and talents. Our students have explored various fields, from innovative art pieces, architectural work, and creative fashion items to mouth-watering food recipes, photography, captivating short films, and audio dramas. They've also ventured into creative writing, sports, music, service, design products and scientific investigations, creating products that reflect their dedication and enthusiasm.
We are incredibly proud of our Grade 10 students for their hard work and commitment to their Personal Projects. Through this journey, they have developed organisation, research, time management, communication and critical thinking skills to overcome obstacles and successfully achieve their goals. Congratulations to all our students for their outstanding achievements and for making this year's Personal Projects a true celebration of creativity and learning.

Christmas Bazaar 2024
As the year winds down, we take a moment to reflect on the warmth and togetherness we shared at this year鈥檚 Christmas Bazaar. It was heartwarming to see our community come together to celebrate, connect, and support meaningful causes. This year鈥檚 Bazaar featured 35 vendor booths and 5 game booths, offering everything from delicious food and drinks to creative crafts and engaging games. It was a true celebration of our vibrant, close-knit family鈥攁 time of generosity, togetherness, and festive cheer.
During this event, RM2,437.70 was raised for our Parent Volunteer Organisation (PVO), supporting initiatives that enrich our school community.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our Bazaar Committee Members, volunteers, and everyone behind the scenes who made this event a success. For those who couldn鈥檛 join us, we hope this note brings you a glimpse of the festive joy we shared 鈥 and inspires you to be part of future celebrations. May your holiday season be filled with warmth, joy, and treasured moments. Here鈥檚 to a new year filled with love, peace, and prosperity. Happy New Year!
